02 / THE ESSENTIALS
03 / WHY BLUE
The tactile event and audible click make each keypress easy to notice, which can suit users who prefer strong feedback while typing.
MX2A Blue is designed to produce an audible click. The sound is part of the switch experience rather than something the design tries to hide.
The pressure point gives each keystroke a clearly defined event compared with a smooth linear switch.
04 / THE KEYSTROKE
MX2A Blue combines a defined tactile pressure point with an intentional audible click. The switching event is designed to be noticeable both by touch and by sound.
Choose MX2A Blue when the click itself is part of the typing experience you want.

KeebPilot Sound Test
Listen to our CHERRY MX2A Blue sound test to hear its distinct clicky feedback in a real keyboard setup.
Sound varies with keyboard case, plate, keycaps, mounting structure, and recording setup.
07 / CHOOSE YOUR FIT
Choose the mounting version that matches your keyboard PCB and plate.
3-PinThe 3-pin option uses the standard switch contacts and center mounting post without the two additional PCB locating pins.
5-PinThe 5-pin option adds two PCB locating pins for compatible PCB layouts.
Choose based on your keyboard PCB—not sound or feel.
Product photographs show the selected mounting version; confirm PCB compatibility before ordering.08 / BEFORE YOU BUILD
CHERRY MX2A Blue uses the standard MX-style switch format. Your keyboard must support the mounting layout you select.
Choose 3-pin or 5-pin based on your PCB and plate layout.
For hot-swap boards, check the socket, PCB holes and plate layout before ordering.
09 / BUILD YOUR PACK
Exact switch counts vary by layout. Consider keeping a few spare switches for replacements.

11 / IN DETAIL
The switch electrically actuates at 50 cN, while the tactile pressure point reaches 60 cN. These are two different measurements and should not be treated as the same specification.
MX2A Blue uses 2.2 mm pre-travel and 4.0 mm total travel, keeping the full-travel format associated with traditional CHERRY MX switches.
MX2A Blue is intentionally audible. Its click mechanism creates acoustic feedback during the switching event rather than relying only on bottom-out or keycap noise.
Clearly Audible. The click is intentional, so MX2A Blue may not suit shared offices, libraries or other noise-sensitive environments.
More Pronounced Than Linear Switches. The tactile pressure point and click mechanism create a more noticeable key event than a smooth linear switch.
Check Compatibility Before Ordering. The PCB and hot-swap socket must support the actual mounting configuration of the version sold on this page.

12 / GOOD TO KNOW
Yes. MX2A Blue combines tactile feedback with an intentional audible click.
The actuation force is 50 cN. The separate 60 cN figure refers to the tactile pressure point.
They measure different parts of the keystroke. 50 cN is the actuation force, while 60 cN describes the tactile pressure point.
MX2A Blue uses 2.2 mm pre-travel and 4.0 mm total travel.
Both. It provides tactile feedback and an intentional audible click.
Both 3-pin and 5-pin versions are available. Choose the mounting configuration that matches your PCB and socket; the 5-pin version requires two additional PCB locating holes.
It can be used with compatible MX-style hot-swap systems, but the PCB and socket must support the mounting configuration of the version sold on this page.
It depends on the environment. Because the switch produces an intentional click, it may not suit shared or noise-sensitive offices.
Both provide tactile feedback, but MX2A Blue adds an intentional audible click. Brown is the quieter option when click noise is not desired.
CHERRY rates MX2A Blue for more than 50 million actuations.
The RGB housing is primarily a lighting and construction difference.
