Verify exact key map
Before replacing your keycaps, compare the 113-key map with your ANSI bottom row, Shift keys and spacebar. MX-style stems do not guarantee coverage for ISO, split-spacebar or unusual modifier layouts. Check the keyboard backlight if the translucent cat-ear effect is part of your build plan.

CAT-EAR LIGHTING
Shiny Kitten uses translucent cat-ear accents that react to a keyboard’s backlight. AKKO’s exact product page describes the ears as lighting up with RGB effects or a single-color glow, making the ear shape part of the lighting design rather than a printed decoration.
The lighting effect depends on the keyboard underneath. With backlighting off, the keycaps still function normally; with lighting on, the translucent PC sections become the visual focus. KeebPilot does not extend that claim into an unsupported promise that every legend is fully shine-through.
Why it matters: Choose this set when you want the keycap shape itself to interact with your keyboard lighting.

MAO PROFILE
The set uses AKKO’s MAO profile, with a rounded, cat-head-like top shape that looks clearly different from conventional Cherry or OEM keycaps. The profile is a defining part of the Shiny Kitten design, not just a secondary specification.
Profile preference is personal. Buyers moving from familiar Cherry or OEM geometry may notice a different fingertip contact shape and overall silhouette. KeebPilot does not label MAO universally better for typing or gaming.
Choose MAO if: You want the rounded cat-head silhouette as part of the experience, not only the White or Pink colorway.

PBT + PC DOUBLE-SHOT
AKKO specifies PBT+PC double-shot construction for the exact Shiny Kitten set. The PBT forms the main keycap body while transparent PC is used for the light-transmitting areas that create the cat-ear effect.
The translucent sections let the keyboard lighting become part of the cat-ear design, while the rounded MAO shape defines the keycap silhouette. Choose White SP or Pink SP to suit the rest of your setup.
Build detail: PBT+PC double-shot construction combines the keycap body with translucent lighting accents.

113-KEY ANSI FIT
AKKO specifies 113 keys and ANSI layout. Supplier materials show common 60/61, 68, 75, 87, 98 and 104/108-key examples, while the set uses the common MX-style cross stem.
That still does not make the set universal. ISO Enter, Alice-style layouts, split spacebars, unusual bottom rows and specialty Shift sizes should be checked against the included key map before ordering.
Compatibility rule: Verify stem type and physical key sizes separately.
It uses AKKO’s MAO profile, a rounded cat-head-like shape that looks and feels noticeably different from conventional Cherry or OEM keycaps.
Yes. AKKO specifies translucent cat-ear accents designed to react to keyboard backlighting, including RGB or single-color lighting.
Yes. Backlighting is not required for normal use; it mainly activates the translucent cat-ear visual effect.
Yes. AKKO’s exact product page specifies PBT+PC material and Double Shot manufacturing. KeebPilot follows the exact official product specification where supplier wording conflicts.
The set is ANSI and seller materials show common 60/61, 68, 75, 87, 98 and 104/108-key examples. Non-standard bottom rows, Alice layouts, split spacebars and ISO boards should still be checked against the exact key map.
The supplied product materials specify the common cross-shaped MX-style stem, so they fit many Cherry MX-style, Gateron, Kailh, AKKO and similar switches. Physical key-size compatibility still needs to be checked separately.
They are color variants of the same 113-key Shiny Kitten set. Both use the same MAO profile and core construction; choose the colorway that fits your build.
Keycaps can affect the overall sound of a keyboard, but the result also depends on switches, plate, case, mounting, foam and typing force. KeebPilot has not performed a controlled sound test for this exact set, so no guaranteed sound signature is claimed.
